Making Money with Articles: Is Free Article Content An Option?

Some web publishers try to use articles from free content directories to get visitors to their site and earn some money. This is mostly crucial for those who have just started up as an affiliate for several websites and do not yet have any capitals, yet need to built small niche web sites to drive visitors to their site so that they can begin making some profits .

Although this can sometimes be the only option for those who are running on a non-existent budget, it is not a way that will effectively build your site or income. There are a couple of potential reasons why this may be detrimental to your business building efforts.

Problem #1 - Search Engines

Search engines will only look down upon your site if it has the exact same duplicated content than other sites. The more websites that share the exact content with you, the less chance it will help you achieve good search engine rankings.

Good search engine rankings are important in getting visitors to your web site so that they have a chance to click on your affiliate links. If you cannot even get visitors, then will never make an revenue. Working on the search engine optimization of your site so that you will eventually be high enough in the results to get customers, should be priority one.

Problem #2 - Getting visitors to click

Although getting your site high on search engine result pages and acquiring web site visitors is hard work, unfortunately this is only half of the battle. You must also be able to convince those visitors to click on your affiliate links. If your visitors see the same content they have seen on a multitude of other site, they will be least likely to buy your products. This is because most people want to buy things that are recommended by people that they trust or whom they feel like are an expert on the subject.

If your content is just duplicated from some other web sites, you will be recognized as someone who does not really know what they are talking about and therefore will not look heavily on your product recommendations. This will reduce the number of website visitors who will be willing to click through.

Problem #3 - Author Bylines

Most free content is only given to you if you agree to place the authors byline under the article (you can get into trouble if you try to use it without following those rules). This poses a problem because most author bylines include links. When a reader gets done reading a really intriguing article, there is a strong possibility that they visit the author resource box link rather than your affiliate links. This is the entire reason why these authors offer free content to begin with, so that they may get their name and links out there to the public. Using this type of content may mean shooting yourself in the foot and losing possible profitable web site visitors.

Once you put these 3 problems together, you are looking at a serious decline in revenue simply because you used free website content from article directories. Although it may be the only option for some, if you have the funds to buy your own original content, then you should go this route. If you don have the finds, however, you may be better off writing your own content and then hiring professional services once you have made a profit to work with.

The Importance Of A Secure Domain Name

Starting a website can be easier then it may appear to be. The one thing aspect, however, that is most important and many tend to spend the least amount of time on, is the domain name. Many feel that the the domain name is not important and choose something cute that is only meaningful to them and no one else.

When choosing a domain name, however you want the name to be something directly related to your business, if at all possible. Either it should be about the product, the name of your business and something of this sort. Now, most people choose the .com version of whatever name they choose, however it is important that if your business begins to take off that you turn around and buy the extensions of that name as well. For instance, if you have a site called CDs.com, then you want to go and buy the .org,.net version and so forth.

Many business do not see a need to purchase the extension domain names, therefore they choose not to spend this money. This could end up hurting the company in the long run, as another business can purchase that domain and operate under your business. They then will have the opportunity to lure customer away from your website, or operate scams to steal from your customers giving your business a bad reputation.

Another reason the purchase the extension is because when a search a made to find your site, the search engine will show these other sites, as well as your own. This will mislead customers to believe that they are all related businesses. In order to secure your business, it is important to secure your web name. Acquiring the various domain names is simple and inexpensive to achieve and is definitely any money and effort put into it.

It is crucial that you understand the workings of the internet in order to maximize your business exposure and limit your business risks. There are website designers, SEO Management Companies, and other web professionals, that are available to assist you through this process if you are unsure of what you need to do.

Your IVR, Improving Your Customers Experience

If you really want to make a positive change in the perception your clients have when they call-in to your company’s IVR you have to listen to them carefully. Avoid listening to anecdotal accounts of what is working and what is not working. And stop listening to sales pitches from prospective vendors that read With this NEW IVR you will be able to increase customer satisfaction, and improve productivity. I don’t need 15 years experience in the IVR business to know, that IVR and a positive customer experience are not necessarily in the same sentence.

The primary purpose of IVR is to reduce the cost of handling calls, its a lot less expensive than a live agent, it work 24/7 - 365 without benefits, or holidays or sick days, or overtime. IVR does not ask for a raise and in fact is you and every company who uses IVR are always finding ways to pay less for it. IVR is not a means of giving a customer a better customer experience; its a means of delivering a cheaper customer experience, when the cost of using a live agent is prohibitive.

You may think this is a harsh statement, however after consulting and building 1000s of IVR applications, in almost all cases it comes down to cost, would you pay the same for IVR as you would for a live agent? Absolutely not. If we agree on this, now lets focus on how you can make the IVR experience a more positive one, when the use of a live agent doesn’t fit your budget.

# 1 is to listen to your client (the caller). Use those same IVR surveys you use to measure customer satisfaction after a call with a live agent, to measure customer satisfaction after an IVR self-service call. And be prepared to hear it as it is. Do not expect the same levels of customer satisfaction, you wont. Be prepared to act on the feedback and share with your clients what you will be doing with this information, (Designing a better, more cost-effective IVR service for you, the client).

The biggest mistake companies make is to tell their clients that they are providing them with a self-service system, to improve on the levels of service, and improve customer relations,(your clients are no fools). Fact is it doesnt, we, (in the industry) know this; however, you can come out straight-out and share with the customer how you plan on making these improvements.

# 2 ” be proactive and tell your customers how you will ensure that their feedback is used to improve on their experience while using the low cost self-service options. Your customers want to know that you are taking steps to make their experience a more pleasurable one, tell them how you will be doing this; they will respect you and believe what you have to say.

8 Types of Backlinks For Your Website

There are many different ways to get backlinks. This article will discuss 8 of the most common ways to get backlinks. It will also discuss which types of links are most effective.

Do not give up on reciprocal links. They still have value. The ease of obtaining these links make them less effective than other types of backlinks but they have some value and they’re not “dead” like so many people claim. These are 2-way links that happen when webmasters agree to link to each other’s sites.

Social bookmarking links are a great way to get a new post or page indexed but have low value otherwise. If you want to rank well for highly competitive terms you need more than social bookmarks. I mean how many boxes of Girl Scout cookies can you sell to your friends? If you look at Cpanel for your website and look at AWSTATS you’ll see that social bookmarking links are in a special category separate from other types of links. Hint. Do more than just be social.

One-way links are more powerful links. However,do not stop at only getting incoming links. Keep your outgoing links and incoming links in balance or it will be an unnatural flow of traffic at your site. Most of the time though this is not a problem because affiliate marketers are out-linking to affiliate programs anyways.

Blog commenting for backlinks seems to be a very popular method because it is a free method for getting backlinks from relevant sites. However, these types of links aren’t very valuable either, especially on blog with the NoFollow attribute set on those sites. There is still some value to blog commenting for backlinks but if you analyze your return on investment on the time it takes to get these links versus the value of those efforts you’ll see that this is a time-sucking effort that usually isn’t worth your time.

Three way links or 3 way links are a hybrid of reciprocal links and 1way links . These types of services are usually only good for getting links to low-competition keywords, key-phrases, and niche topics. Nonetheless, you can add about 50 sites to these networks and get backlinks to all your sites automatically with 3 way links services. This is a pretty good deal for webmasters with a portfolio of mini-sites for low competition terms. Most 3 way link building services require you link out to other sites in order to get links. These are non-reciprocal from other sites in the 3 way linkbuilding service’s network. If the network is full of quality sites, then there is decent value to this automated link building. Watch though because in most cases, you lose all your links if you cancel your membership.

You might think, who ever looks at footers? Well it does not matter so much if the reader does. What matters is what the search engine sees when spidering your site for links. In this way footer links at the bottom of sites link to other sites. They are remarkably effective at getting blogs ranked well and quickly, assuming the links in the theme are highly ranked. Footer links are at the bottom of blogs with links to the site that made the free WordPress theme if the webmaster was using a free WordPress theme. This is also true for the downloads of WordPress plugins. One marketer has his footer links in every Master Resell Rights Website he sells. Every one of those sites link back to his main site which which is page 2 for the term “make money online”. Suffice to say that footer links work well if there are a lot of people using the themes, plugins and leaving links intact. Many SEO bloggers claim that these types of links are ineffective and they are 100% wrong!

Paid links are links that you pay for in order to get some high Page Rank and relevant links back to your site for your chosen keywords. I think that this an extreme waste of money because they’re usually expensive. Not only that, they are not permanent either because you only have those backlinks as long as you’re paying the monthly fee for those links. You’re better off paying less of a monthly fee for a linkbuilding service like Unique Article Wizard that delivers quality, permanent one way links in quantity.

Customers and SEO: Does it Work?

The goal of any business is to make a profit, which comes from paying customers. In order to market online and survive, you need plenty of traffic to get those paying customers. You can spend a lot of money getting people to your website, but the key here getting visitors who are looking for what you have, and not how much you spend to get them.

Targeted traffic is people who are actively searching for what is on your webpage, as these are who you can convert into customers. Otherwise, traffic is just traffic. Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is the tools and the methods of putting your website within reach of the people who are looking for what you have to offer. Just having a website and a product, no matter how good they are, will not get you paying customers if they can?t fine you.

Keywords are the words and phrases that are typed into the search boxes on the search engines when people are looking for something. In order to find your webpage, you need to have the keywords they are searching for, not only on your page, but arranged and used in such a way that they are noticed and displayed by the search engines. SEO or Search Engine Optimization is the things that are done to get your webpage listed as close to the top of the SERP, specifically on the first page where people are most likely to see and click on your site. The goal is number one, but getting into the top 10 can be a real boost to your business.

Just getting people to your webpage is only the start, if you are looking to make a profit. You are going to need to provide solid content, have a good offer and a well written sales page, as well as a way to follow up. The whole process of converting a potential customer into a paying customer is a core part of the sales process, but you first need people to convert.

Keep in mind that SEO is more than just keywords. There are a few points to remember that will help customers choose your site over the others returned in a search. Metadata tags do not have the importance in SEO that they once had, but search engines will still use the description tag in the heading section of your html code in the search results to tell what your webpage is all about. If this tag is not there, the search engines will use the first few sentences on your webpage as the description. It is important to take your time and write a description, as well as the first few sentences, that will draw people to want to click on the link to your site.

Can SEO be an effective way to get customers to your site? Yes it can, and is a proven method of long term targeted traffic generation. Remember that the big search engines are not going to hand over a plan that tells you exactly what they are looking for to place your page in the number one SERP spot, but requires some know-how and a lot of testing. There are basic proven methods that work, and the best part about SEO is that once the initial work is finished, the traffic and the paying customers are all free, which means less marketing costs and more profits.

Pay Per Click Advertising - How The Pros Do It

Organising keywords, as far as PPC (pay per click advertising) is concerned, can be broken down into three parts.

1. Find suitable keywords 2. Use them correctly in your Google ads 3. Control the whole thing with pay per click management software

By the time we get to part three we will need software to manage our PPC campaign and there is nothing finer than the wonderful Ad Grenade.

For now we will focus on how to find a suitable list of keyword phrases to use in your ppc campaign - at zero cost !

Both ‘Keyword Tool External’ from Google and the first class Traffic Travis are free and do a first class job.

If you are not too experienced in internet marketing and/or money is tight, I would recommend sticking with the free tools to begin with.

How To Compile A Large list Of Relevant Keywords - FREE

To begin with, compile a list of obvious phrases from your niche, for example ‘grow roses’, ‘how to grow roses’, ‘how to grow climbing roses’, ‘how to grow hardy roses’ etc. Another free tip, enter your phrases into the Google search box and see if the dropdown menu comes up with more gems.

Run all of these, one by one, through Traffic Travis, when you get to the ’send to sorter’ stage, eliminate any phrases of less than 2 words or greater than 10 as well as anything containing ‘free’ or ‘freeware’. Someone checking out free stuff hasn’t got their credit card out ! Traffic Travis will enable you to download your list to a *.txt file where you will manually delete unsuitable keywords.

Now copy and paste the whole list into the Google tool and hit the ‘Get Keyword Ideas’ key, Google will suggest more keywords which you should consider using. Now download your new list to a text file where you will find it conveniently sorted into alphabetical order.

Your final task is to arrange your list into very targeted groups of keywords, that is phrases that are very tightly related. I cannot over emphasize how important this is, your pay per click ads must take your customers to pages that not only use the keywords in those ad groups but must focus completely on the subject they suggest.

If you are in any way unsure about the ‘mechanics’ of working with these tools, I think you will find that after a little trial and error that the Google product is quite simple and the Traffic Travis people have provided very helpful videos.

Stages 2 and 3 will be the subject of other articles. When you get to stage three it will become all too clear why, without some kind of adwords software, this whole approach would be impossible to manage.

How Social Media Buttons and Icons Can Improve Your Blog Traffic

Each blogger wants to reach a larger audience with their blog, regardless of how many readers they currently have. Social media sites present one of the best opportunities for bloggers to expand their reach.

Bloggers can devote their time in different ways in order to get better results with social media (writing new blog posts, networking with other social media users, etc.), but one thing that tends to get some easy results is to use recognized social media icons and voting buttons on the blog.

The voting buttons and icons that you use on your blog serve as a reminder and a polite request to your visitors to vote for you. The buttons make it faster and more convenient, which usually means more votes.

Common Mistakes When Using Social Media Icons/Buttons

Because voting buttons and icons have potential to send more traffic, and because it is an easy change, many bloggers wind up going overboard. You’ve probably seen a number of blogs that have tons and tons of voting buttons.

In almost every case, this strategy will backfire. Adding too many buttons will create a cluttered blog that distracts the reader and just plain looks bad. Just as important, having too many buttons can spread out the votes that you get to the point that they have no impact.

If you have 20 different voting buttons on your site and you get one vote through each button, you’ll see very little, if any, traffic as a result. However, if you have one or two voting buttons and you get 20 votes, it will make a difference in your traffic levels (depending on the particular social media sites).

By using fewer icons/buttons you can indicate to visitors which social media sites are the most important ones for you. If you’re using too many buttons it can be confusing and they have no idea where you would most like to receive the votes.

Ways to Use Social Media Icons

Place only a small number of social media voting buttons on your blog, I recommend 2 or 3. Carefully chose the social media sites based on fit with your audience, as well as their potential to send traffic to your site.

Another thing to keep in mind is that small bloggers will typically not have the best results if they are only targeting major social media sites like Digg. With a small audience, you are much more likely to get significant exposure from a smaller niche-specific social media site that will require fewer votes in order to become “popular.”

If necessary, explain to your visitors what the social media sites are, how they can use them, and why they would want to use them. Depending on the topics that you right about, it’s possible that only a small percentage of your readers will be familiar with social media. In this case you can help to educate them and they’ll be more likely to wind up voting for your content.

What Is The Importance Of Web Analytics

Web analytics are the key in knowing how to identify your customers and knowing where they are coming from. Web analytics are crucial to converting visitors to customers on your website. When marketing your website, web analytics and website optimization should be used well together for the best results. Just remember that all of the effort you put into your website optimization is a waste of time and money if you are not using website analytics. Keep reading to learn why web analytics is so crucial for your website conversions.

Where could you get all this information from? Log file is a file that the server creates to record the user interactions. You could find all such information from the log file. However, it can sometimes be a tedious task to study so much information that is there in the log file. Also, it would be tedious task to filter out the desired information from the log file. In such cases, the web analytic tools play a major role. These tools not only provide all the information, but do so in a very organized and simplified manner. It is extremely easy to get any desired information. The information is also displayed in graphs and bars to understand the information better.

Web analytics give you the mirror image of your website?s current performance. Once you know the daily traffic flow to your website, you can gauge the business value of your website. The information available is so explanatory that you can even find details such as the source of the traffic. In other words, you could find out whether the traffic is coming from the search engines, other websites, or direct. If you do not have a decent amount of traffic coming from the search engines, you net traffic flow must be low. This is because most people use search engines to search data and eventually visit the websites. You are certainly missing out on this huge chunk of traffic that could also come your way.

You would also get to know the best pages of your website, and the pages that need improvement. You can then place your business ads on the best pages of your website that pulls heavy traffic.

Interestingly, you can also know the keywords that were searched by the visitors before landing up in your website. These keywords are more than useful to you, as you may then make use of these keywords in your website content, and attract many more visitors.

You can also locate the pages that your visitors exit the website at. You must try and figure out the weak points of these pages, and optimize them accordingly.

As can be understood, the web analytics plays a significant role in web marketing and promoting your website.

Working online is a way to success, but you will need to sell something. You do not need to do this face to face but you will have to learn to market the product. The best provide training you can access anytime, so you can learn at your pace. E-mail and telephone support is a must so you can talk if you don’t understand. If you are considering joining a company and like the look of their training and compensation plans then e-mail them also and ask questions about them. They should only be too happy to reply. Watch out for those who promise a million overnight, it aint happening.

Do your research carefully. You can get a lot of information from search engines. You will have to decide on the cost also. Will you make money. Some compensation plans are so small you may hardly make anything. You will have to decide. Hope this helps but there is more! Good luck.
