What Would A Marketing Firm Do In Caveman Society?

Cavemen did not use the LIRR to get to work or go to happy hour with their colleagues. They did not watch television, get emails, or play “words with friends.” Nevertheless cavemen could have taken advantage of the services of a modern day marketing firm. Cavemen had products and services that could have benefited from a marketing firm or from using Twitter for business purposes. Perhaps cavemen did have their own form of marketing firms but archaeologists have yet to discover them. For now we can only hypothesize what the caveman marketing business would look like.

So what would a caveman use a marketing firm for? Just like contemporary man, cavemen would hire a marketing firm to advertise new products. The wheel could have been popularized much faster if cavemen had a marketing firm to promote the benefits of using the wheel. The wheel would basically sell itself with just a little bit of advertising. Cavemen in the wheel-making industry could have used Twitter for business by Tweeting about how great round wheels are at transporting huge stones in comparison to square ones. A marketing firm could also have helped caveman communities reach out to other cavemen about how incredibly useful the wheel is.

Cavemen also could have used a marketing firm to promote their cave paintings. Cave painting was a mainstay of caveman culture. They told stories and recorded instructions through cave painting. A efficient marketing firm could have turned cave painting into a profitable venture for entrepreneurial cavemen. Caveman marketing firms could have turned cave painters into famous artists that other cavemen would envy.

Cavemen probably had no notion of what it meant to be a good salesman. Caveman society revolved around fighting off Komodo dragons, lugging around boulders, and finding a mate. Inject the wherewithal of a modern marketing firm into that scenario and you would have a much more informed society of cavemen. A marketing firm could coordinate smoke signal campaigns to spread messages to cave dwellers miles away. This would do wonders for caveman safety. If a blood thirsty saber tooth tiger was spotted lurking around popular hunting grounds, the caveman marketing firm would help raise awareness. In the caveman world a marketing firm would serve two purposes as both advertising agency and public safety announcer.

It is sad that we will never know what the world would be like today if cavemen had the ability to use Twitter for business and marketing firms. Perhaps if we ever conquer the obstacles to time travel we can go back and really mess up the history of the world by introducing Twitter and marketing to cavemen. That endeavor would probably fail because cavemen did not have the internet or money. But if we gave cavemen internet access it would be intriguing to see what they would do with it. We should devote the resources we use for war, espionage, and nuclear weaponry on time travel so we can help cavemen become civil with Twitter and modern marketing.

So, do you think you would like to find out more about how to use Twitter for business? Do you think you would like to find out more about hiring a marketing firm? go to at fishbat.com to find out more!

Should Future Politicians Worry About Social Media Management Today?

Politicians and political candidates get grilled for every blunder they make in life. The American media focuses on personal misgivings like affairs, shady career moves, and questionable life choices like drinking and driving. The GOP presidential race this year has been filled with allegations regarding fraud, infidelity, racism, and shady backdoor dealings. The Rachel Maddow show on MSNBC ran an hour long special about Mitt Romney mistreating the family dog back in the 1980s. A montage of images of his dog Seamus ran across the screen while Ms. Maddow tried to convince viewers it was relative to the presidential election. However politicians today are blessed that they did not have to worry about social media management and personal online marketing when they were young. Now every candidate needs a social media agency.

In ten or twenty years when today’s twenty-something year old people run for political office it will be interesting to see how the media and the American electorate react to the crazy photographs and videos that will surface. Basically everyone I know has at least one profile on Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace. Photos and videos are uploaded after the weekend debauchery and are immortalized on the internet forever. Once something is uploaded on the internet it is there forever. You can remove Facebook tags and delete Tweets but somewhere out there that picture of you doing body shots on the bar at your twenty-first birthday still exists.

Many people do not care that there are photos of them drinking, smoking, and worse, on their Facebook or MySpace page. But for those of us who do care about social media management and untag pictures like that, there is not much else we can do. The colleague who uploaded the incriminating photo will always have it whether you untag it or not. Pictures are immortalized on the world wide web all day everyday. Politicians today have an easy time with social media management and personal online marketing because most of them did not make a social media profile until they were already in office or running for office. All the pictures of them partaking in adolescent and young adult debauchery are tucked away under someone’s bed or buried under decades of garbage. From time to time an incriminating photo from a politician’s past will surface and scandal will ensue. But this is nothing compared to what it will be like when my generation joins the political arena.

Facebook immortalizes scandal on the internet for everybody to witness. But Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and other social media websites are a cornerstone of our society. Facebook has become an institution that is not going to vanish. Although these websites frequently embarrass us and depict us in regrettable situations, we have no intentions to delete our profiles and disconnect from social media. So when individuals run for political office in twenty years will we scrutinize their past as intensely as we do to politicians today?

I think the answer is no, we will not. The collective social media experience that we share will stay with us as the years roll on. When people from my generation run for office I think the public will be more understanding of the fact that all of us at some point were embarrassed on Facebook. The press will have different notions regarding what is scandalous. Hopefully in twenty years we are more concerned with a candidate’s merits than with the potentially obscene or incriminating Facebook photos taken two decades prior.

Things You Wouldn’t Tell Your Mother, But Would Tell Facebook - the Reason Everyone Needs Reputation Management

On any given Sunday morning, my Facebook feed is a list of hangover complaints and the same question: What did I do last night? Despite privacy settings, putting any personal information on the Internet is an invitation to open a can of worms. College acceptance, employment opportunities, and personal relations can easily be affected by a person’s online reputation. From regular people to celebrities and businesses, it’s a known fact that everyone could gain something from a little reputation management. So why aren’t people thinking before they press the “post” button to post their status?

Due to the fact that posting statuses online uses a computer or mobile device to communicate, people tend to say things that they normally wouldn’t mention in face-to-face conversations. Disregarding the fact that the Internet has the potential to reach millions of people, Twitter and other social networking sites are used as personal soapboxes where people update before they think. Things that a person normally wouldn’t share with their mother are suddenly published on the Internet foreveryone to see. On a larger scale, celebrities and businesses with a harmful online reputation are bound to be the topic of negative conversation that could adversely affect success.

While the Internet might be a public relations playground in terms of generating good press, the lack of common sense between a person and the “post” button creates the potential for a PR nightmare. If mismanaged, online reputations can be a breeding ground for bad press. With politicians who are texting “intimate” pictures and celebrity tweeters with a serious case of word vomit it’s hard for anyone to have a feel of what is appropriate to post online or send out through their phone. On a smaller scale, think of the high school girl who’s reputation is permanently damaged by the picture she thought her boyfriend wouldn’t put online or the Harvard graduate who can’t get a job because of the unsavory photos and status updates on their Facebook.

Before you post something online, it’s important to ask yourself a question to see if it’s a smart idea or not. For me, the question is: “Would my mother be ashamed to see that I’ve posted this?” Recently, my mother registered herself on Facebook, so the thought process isn’t really a stretch of the imagination. This shouldn’t imply that a person doesn’t have the right to speak their mind. But it’s important to bear in mind that once you put something out into cyberspace, it’s difficult to take it back and that’s something you have to live with.

From the biggest celebrity to the smallest member of the social media food chain, reputation management is important. Forgetting what you did last night could be less embarrassing than the photos that appear on Facebook of what you actually did. Online reputation can impact a person’s academic, professional, and personal life. At the end of the day, there’s simply too much at stake to risk posting something that you’ll regret a few minutes after posting.

Confessions of a Shopaholic: Proof that Online Marketing is Getting The Job Done

As an self-proclaimed shopaholic, it’s my worst nightmare when my account balance hits a low point and I can’t afford those new shoes I’ve been coveting from my favorite online store. Unfortunately, any time I log onto Facebook or Twitter, I’m confronted with tempting updates from my favorite online haute haunts telling me about special deals, new arrivals, and secret sales. In today’s world one of the best and most direct ways to reach the customers a business wants to sell to is through social media. For any skeptics out there who doubt the importance of good online marketing through social media management, I’m here to make a believer of you. The low balance on my checking account serves as confirmed proof that the strategy and web marketing gets the job done.

On any given day, I spend a large amount of my time on the Internet using social networking sites. Combining that with the availability of brands for purchase online, the web is the place that any good business wants to be to make a sale. While it’s easy to overlook the onslaught of ads that pop up during any web surfing adventure, the use of good social media management helps make any message hard to ignore. A good online marketing strategy means that the web is being used to a business’s best advantage through tactics like keyword use, demographic targeting, ad placement, and blog outreach.

Everything is easy to buy on the Internet. From clothes to food to fitness equipment, the World Wide Web could be a shopaholics playground or worst nightmare depending on their budgets. The last time I was confronted with something more detrimental to my spending limit was the week where I couldn’t sleep and watched dozens of infomercials each night. (I mean, really, why did I need so many BeDazzlers anyway?) For a business trying to gather more customers, online marketing is now one of the best ways to improve sales and get a job done.

Each day, there are hundreds of millions of people logging onto social networking sites. Cornering the market online is one surefire way to do more business. This is particularly true for local businesses, which can use the reach of Internet to expand to a global market. There’s a wealth of tools that businesses can use at their fingertips. However, in order to use them properly they need a fantastic online marketing strategy.

If you’re skeptical as to what the Internet can do for your business, take it from someone who has fallen prey to the businesses who have used the method well. The time that I spend online, either browsing or looking for a new purchase, combines to make good business for you. And I’m not the only person. Social media management is one business strategy that any company can take to the bank. Just not my bank, because I’ve been spending so much online lately that they might not cash it.

Managing an Online Marketing Firm: The Working Gears of a Web Marketing Campaign

Management in an online marketing firm has a load of responsibility when conducting a web marketing campaign. There are several departments within an online marketing firm and it is necessary to extend responsibility throughout the company. Within a single online marketing firm there are four departments groups: graphic design, SMO, SEO and sales.

Graphic Design requires a department manager that is familiar with how certain imaging programs work and what to expect with certain deadlines for particular projects. Managing this department in an online marketing firm takes a bit of artistic sincerity and a relationship between other departments. Managing the image design for fashioned web pages, Power Point presentations or anything else that may require the complete redesign or refurbishing of any website image content is an important aspect of this position.

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, deals with content of web sites and article writing. SEO is vital to the online marketing firm because of ranking. Having ranking on a search engine means your company is noticeable to internet surfers. The writing power of the department manager may not have to be stronger than those who work for him/her but this manager needs to realize what content is offensive, provocative or appropriate for their clients. A web marketing campaign that is anything but upbeat can result in bad PR. PR is another option that an online marketing firm can offer as well if in need of repair.

SMO, or Social Media Organization, deals with social media sites and web page administration. Social media holds the world by the reins. While the population of the world sits at their computer screen, an online marketing firm will always make money. Social media sites are a foundation for networking with other clients and reaching out to latent customers. Social media sites are the seamless web marketing tool for any online marketing firm.

The Sales Department needs to get the clients and sign on the potential revenue an online marketing firm needs. Constantly on the phone and haggling with these potential moneymaking clients, the Sales Department Manager is riding the back of his sales team to get the phone answered and the relationships with patrons made. The more clients an online marketing firm has the more likely the sales will be coming in. With more clients come more web marketing campaign designs.

Why Social Media? Why Not Use An Online Marketing Firm?

The world has changed over the past decade, and altered hastily. The business landscape does not look anything like it did a mere ten years ago, there are whole industries that have stepped up out of the blue in response to the growing world of the social media agency. So why social media? Why should your company chose an online marketing firm for web marketing? It’s not as if it’s reputation management, where you face an unrealized threat.

It’s basic numbers seriously. There are more people on earth that have access to the internet than there are people on earth who have access to clean water, plumbing, reliable food sources, and toilets. Yes, there are more people on earth who have access to the internet than have access to a toilet. As nuts as that sounds, it’s a sign of the era that we all live in, and how people have adjusted their priorities to meet their own personal standards of living.

As well as the big number of people who have access to the internet, the statistic of people applying social media is also crazy. Over one billion human beings living on planet earth (who knows) are online in a social media forum. Think about that for a time, one billion people. Even if your company only reaches 10% of that number, that’s one hundred million people reached. That’s a lot of people to be marketing to.

Facebook alone blusters over 800 million individual users. That’s a whole hell of a lot of individual users using the Facebook social media. Twitter itself boasts over 200 million users, combined alone these two social media hulks blusters the majority of people using any social media agency. Why would your company not be on either Facebook or Twitter?

Social media today has become the dominant source of marketing. Other mediums have begun to condense in comparison to this fact. Outlets such as print media, and cable advertisements (except the Superbowl) have gotten less expensive, and cheaper because of the ability to advertise for cheap on social media outlets. Think about it, and put your online biases aside and jump on the bandwagon, it’s probably the only time in your life you won’t be criticized for it!

Online Marketing Nightmares: Social Media Management Problems

Since the birth of online marketing, businesses have attempted to use social media effectively. Some have done well, and some have done terribly. Social media management is a complicated art, so it makes sense that not everybody, and not every social media agency, is going to do it well.

The reason behind most companies fail at social media management is because they are looking at it with an expired way of seeing things. They view social media to be like old-fashioned formsof communication; that as a one-way, structured form of communicating, instead of the two-way, free form medium we know it to be.

In case you were asking, here’s a tiny social media management snafu from which you can learn, with the names altered to protect the guilty. A new aspirin formula was introduced by a drug company, which they touted as a panacea for the aches and pains that comes with being a Mom. Twitter was atwitter almost overnight; it was seen as an insult to moms. They said that all women adore their kids, so these aches and pains are just a natural part of it. The company was then put in a nasty situation; they could either pull an entire product mere days after launch, or face continued, irreparable damage to the brand. Not the sort of situation you would want to be in.

You might be thinking about giving up and trying something a small bit less hardcore. But here are some guidelines making sure these problems don’t arise. You should constantly have somebody watching Twitter and Facebook to see if people are talking about you, not just on your own pages. You can do this by smart phone, so just have somebody check in once an hour while they’re at home. Also, it’s a great idea to set up Google news alerts for your products or brands. This way, if a story is published, you’ll get an email telling you so.

Do your best to keep in mind considerable problems don’t happen all the time. In fact, social media management is, once you have looked at it clearly, a net gain. Before you had no manner to see how people see before any problem became huge. Now you’re able to mollify negative events before they do too much damage to your brand.
